About Us
The Pioneer Valley History Network (PVHN) developed in 2006 from an informal gathering of
people connected with the historical institutions -- the museums, libraries, historical sites, and societies -- of the Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts. The organization formed to help promote local tourism among the various historical societies and museums in the region.
Twice each year, PVHN hosts a Gathering that brings together people who are involved in preserving the history of the three counties that comprise the Pioneer Valley. These Gatherings highlight topics of interest to our members and feature speakers and panelists sharing their experiences and knowledge. In addition, PVHN hosts other workshops and programs of interest.
As much as possible, we have tried not to compete with the historical institutions for limited resources. So far, PVHN has operated without membership dues and has charged only the most modest fees for our programs. It is a struggle to make this work, but we all recognize that each of our museums, organizations, and sites faces the same struggle.

The organization is governed by a Steering Committee comprised of interested individuals from the museums, historical societies, libraries, and historic sites of western Massachusetts.
